Ending of preaching

At the end of the sutra, Shakyamuni is seated behind an altar-table, flanked by bodhisattvas and shravakas. Shariputra is worshipping him with joined hands. Since his attendant bodhisattvas are Manjushri who rides a lion and Samantabhadra who rides a white elephant, Shakyamuni is now a Sambhogakaya Buddha. The idea behind this picture seems to be that Shakyamuni, who appeared in India in the form of a Nirmanakaya and deliverd the Amida Sutra, is originally a transcendent Sambhogakaya Buddha, to which state hi now returns after preaching this sutra. On the clouds behind the Buddha the audience is seen departing.
